Le Chant du Monde

1973 - 1974

Influenced by Sonny Terry, Jean-Jacques Milteau learned to play the harmonica in both France and the United States. On this debut album, recorded by Jean Clair, he is joined by fellow musicians (Laurent Gérôme, Eric Kristy, Christian Lancry) delivering an engaging mix of Blues, Country and Folk. On apprécie "Knock Odile", "First trip" (avec Rolly Lucot à l'harmonica), "Special 20", "Blues harp". Le microsillon original a été intégralement repris sur le CD "Blowin' in the past".

It is therefore natural to find Mitchell's musicians on this album (Pierre Fanen, Mauro Serri, Jean Yves D'Angelo, Michel Gaucher). This time, the music leans towards electric blues and a more modern sound than before.

He is backed by excellent sidemen such as Jean Yves D'Angelo, Manu Galvin, Basile Leroux, Laurent Vernerey, Michel Gaucher and Jean Michel Kajdan. Mixing covers of standards ("Rollin' and tumblin'") with original compositions ("I've got to go"), this is an enjoyable live blues album. Un disque inégal comportant quelques bons moments comme "Hole in the wall", "You never know", "Tchoupitoula" et une intéressante reprise du "Down in Mississippi" de J.B. Lenoir.
